Applications

The aircraft, marine, race kart, recreational vehicle, industrial and agricultural markets are the areas Global Rotary Power Inc. sees as the major markets for this line of engines. There is a proliferation of boats, personal watercraft and other recreational vehicles in the hundreds of thousands using engines of similar size.

In the aircraft industry there are over 700 home-built and ultra-light aircraft types in North America that use engines in the 40 HP, 80 HP, 90, 180 and 240 HP configurations of the Charge Cooled and Oil Cooled rotor rotary combustion engines. The Oil Cooled rotor engines can be supercharged or turbo-normalized for additional power.

Apart from the above mentioned major areas, future applications may include:

Industrial
Agricultural
Recreational

air compressors
automotive
generators
pumps
refrigeration units
co-generation units

irrigation pumps
tractors
power generators
farm implements
conveyers
hybrid engine vehicles
outboard motors
all-terrain vehicles
golf carts
plus many others

Sales in the marine industry are governed by power and performance, which accounts for the predominance of the two-stroke engine. The new Global Rotary Combustion engines, which are all four-stroke, give both high power and excellent performance. Once the new legislation outlawing 2-stroke engines comes into effect, the replacement market will be vast.

Rotary combustion engines can be used on co-generation units, which by burning abundant and inexpensive fuels can provide heat and electricity in homes or businesses for lower costs than the utility companies. Natural gas can be used directly or liquefied and made readily available through pipelines and portable tanks. The supply of natural gas is projected to last for a thousand years. Eventually, renewable fuels such as ethanol and other “bio-fuels” can extend the fuel supply indefinitely.

The hybrid automobile is rapidly becoming a common design in the marketplace. The rotary combustion engine will make the hybrid automobile engine a practical reality, being more efficient than many of the small engines in current use. A small, rugged model of the engine, designed to produce from 20 to 65 HP and run for thousands of hours without maintenance, can drive a generator to provide the charge for a few modern storage batteries.

During normal travel on a level road even a large automobile uses less than 20 HP. The batteries provide the surge capability needed to accelerate, climb hills and travel modest distances. Using natural gas to power the rotary engine, even large cars with the hybrid system can achieve more than 100 miles per gallon. The trucking industry would benefit greatly from reduced fuel usage in this current environment of very high fuel prices, to say nothing of the savings to the environment itself. Reduced exhaust pollution will provide a strong impetus to achieve the rapid conversion of automobile engine power to such a hybrid system.
